Dawlish Bags!

Dawlish Transition Ambition is dedicated to reducing our use and dependency on carrier bags.  Not only do they use oil to produce, but they don't degrade efficiently, and cause untold misery and pollution in marine environments.

RESULTS of COMPETITION

The winning design for the Dawlish Reusable bag competition was announced at the launch of Dawlish Transition Ambition at the Red Rock Skills Centre on 24th February 2011.

The winning designs were numbers 3 (Black Swan, Re-cycling) and Number 11 (Dawlish is Fantastic…) with the first prize being shared as both entries received exactly the same number of votes from the public.  Second place went to entry number 13 ‘Save The Sea Life’.
The next stage of the campaign is for the winning designers to work with an artist from Teignbridge Recycled Art In the Landscape (TRAIL), to tweak and perfect the final design for the Dawlish bag to go to print.  Once funding has been secured the environmentally friendly bag for Dawlish will be produced.

The next stage of the Dawlish Reusable Bag Campaign will be a Recycling Roadshow on Friday 1st April at The Piazza (next to The Lawn) alongside the local produce market, from 9:30 – 2pm.

Please come along and see for yourself and find out more about the ‘Bag for Dawlish’ and claim your free reusable bag.   For more information please contact ben.bryant@teignbridge.gov.uk
